Mary Bredenkamp, 14-2 Head Coach
Mary’s passion for volleyball began in sixth grade, and she quickly became obsessed with the sport throughout middle school, peppering any chance she could get. She played club volleyball for Nike NW Jrs. and Cascade Jrs., and competed for Sam Barlow High School, where her team placed second in state during both her sophomore and junior years. As a junior, she earned Honorable Mention, and as a senior, she was recognized as First Team All-Conference Hitter.
After high school, Mary joined the United States Air Force and focused on her academic career, earning a degree in Social Work.
Her coaching journey began at 8th Street Academy and with FCA Volleyball Club. This year, she proudly returned to her alma mater, Sam Barlow High School, as the JV2 Head Coach.
As a coach, Mary leads with high standards, emphasizing a balance of working hard and having fun. Her goal is to foster a team culture rooted in cohesion, skill development, and mental growth. She focuses on developing strong athletes both on and off the court, building on each player’s strengths through positive encouragement and constructive feedback. Believing that “we practice how we play,” she values giving 100 percent effort and energy every time.
Outside of coaching, Mary enjoys spending time with her chickens, pug, family, and friends. She continues to play in adult volleyball leagues, tournaments, and open gyms.
